From the list, any of the traits provided could be used to speak on how they impact my academic life, but I'd rather to speak on my determination in particular. Determination is crucial for my academic journey, it drives me to set clear goals and pushes me to overcome challenges I encounter along the way. When I face difficult modules, my determination helps me stay motivated and engaged, allowing me to persist.
My Mentor
The Right Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey
Marcus Mosiah Garvey was a Jamaican political activist, the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League, through which he declared himself Provisional President of Africa. Garvey would've spent most of this life advocating for rights of Negros whether Jamaicans, Africans or Afro-Americans and through this he was awarded Jamaica's first National Hero. He was a man of of many quotes, that from the countless uplifting speeches, books and interviews he gave during his lifetime but the one that stood out to me was "If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life." Now why did I choose MMG as a mentor? This is simply due to me believing that we should stand up as one and unite to achieve a common goal or to overcome whatever obstacles that are thrown in front of us throughout life's journey, and this is what he stood for.
Keirsey Temperament Sorter Personality Test
After taking the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, I found that the results resonated with many aspects of my personality, highlighting my strengths and communication style. This suggests that the test has some validity for me personally. However, I also recognize that personality is complex and can change over time, so while the test provides useful insights, it shouldn't be seen as a definitive assessment of who I am. Overall, it serves as a helpful tool for self-reflection rather than a complete picture.
